Since november 2008, APC-Nepal is running a weekly radio program "Sadak Kopila" every monday at 7am, on ECR-FM 104.2 MHz, to give awareness especially to rural population about street children issues.

Main objectives:

• To create awareness in all strata of Nepal society about overall situation of street children, risk and dangers associated to their living and working conditions in the cities.
• To target especially rural areas and district surrounding the main agglomeration where most of street children come from
• To help reduce afflux of children in the cities from the rural district
• To involve ex-street children themselves in the awareness/prevention process
• To provide awareness among mass in daily contact with street children about dangers such as glue sniffing, child exploitation and abuses and ways to prevent them.
• To give awareness about child rights, children protection policies and other sensitive phenomenon of the street children.
• To provide useful information (addresses, phone numbers…) to families looking for their children.
• To give general information about APC-NEPAL and promote its vision and philosophy.

Outcome/benefits:

Through this radio program APC-Nepal can convey different messages to mass of the people from rural areas to prevent and reduce street children phenomenon. We can also reach urban areas and help in   improving status of street children. We can also convey information about Apc-Nepal and other NGOs, their mission, vision and objectives.

Methodology used:

1. Regular participation of Children and staff to discuss particular topics through interviews
2. Participation/debates with other social worker and community people to share different Ideas.
3. Receiving the phone call from audience for further discussion and clarification
4. Conveying different message to mass of the people about APC-NEPAL.
5. A website (blog type) www.sadakkopila.blogspot.com updated weekly will allow the audience to consult the summary of each program and find useful information, as well as ask further questions and make comments.

Target:

All the activities to be done through radio program to raised awareness program of APC-Nepal with target objectives such as Awareness against glue sniffing, sexual abuse, HIV/AIDS and Exploitation of children.
